Dr. Stanley A. Temple
The keynote by Dr. Stanley A. Temple will highlight Aldo Leopold’s concept of “land health” as a central goal of a “land ethic” which provides a moral compass for living sustainably on Planet Earth. Leopold regarded ecological resilience as one of the pillars of land health.
Dr. Stanley Temple is Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Forest and Wildlife Ecology, UW-Madison and Senior Fellow, Aldo Leopold Foundation Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies.

FEATURE ADDRESS Jennifer J. Wilhoit, Ph.D. Native Species and Ecotones: We Can’t do Without Them
Dr. Jennifer Wilhoit will define ecotones, explain the environmental significance, and present examples of ecotones in the landscape, as well as the ecological and metaphorical values. She will highlight the importance of conserving, restoring and maintaining ecotones in native plantings and landscapes. Finally, she will provide an opportunity for conference attendees to explore their own relationships to native species through guided practices.
